For over 30 years, the Rotary Club of Latrobe has proudly partnered with The Dictionary Project to provide local elementary school students with a valuable tool for their education—a personal dictionary. As part of this international initiative, our club purchases and delivers dictionaries to students, empowering them with a resource they can use throughout their lifetime.
The objective of this project is simple yet impactful: to give Year 4 children (8-9-year-olds) their very own dictionary during a special presentation by a Rotarian. This act not only supports literacy and learning but also helps build a lifelong connection to the power of words.
The Rotary Club of Latrobe is one of many clubs worldwide involved in The Dictionary Project. Since its inception, the project has grown to become an ongoing, nationwide effort, ensuring students receive their own dictionary each year.
By participating in this initiative, we aim to promote education and literacy on both a local and global scale, fostering a love for learning in the next generation.
The Dictionary Project continues to be a key community service project for the Rotary Club of Latrobe. We are committed to delivering dictionaries every year, helping children expand their vocabulary, improve reading comprehension, and gain confidence in their ability to communicate effectively.
Together, we can make a difference, one dictionary at a time.
